David Ruffley MP has called for the Chief Executive, Keith Brown, of Visit East Anglia to the House of Commons to explain their recent “Curious County” advertising campaign.

David Ruffley MP welcomes the increase in the number of apprenticeships in Bury St Edmunds.

Mr Peter Avis of Bury St Edmunds was murdered by a Polish immigrant, Mr Melanuik, who prior to the incident had escaped a Polish prison after serving time for a robbery conviction.

David Ruffley MP said: 'There are two garrisons in my constituency, Honington and Wattisham. Every time I visit I am struck by the dedication and patriotism of our brave troops - and their families. These men and women give so much for our country and we must do more to help them when they return to civilian life.

I have been campaigning for changes to the housing rules so that local authorities prioritise housing for those former Armed Forces personnel.

David Ruffley MP has made a joint submission for the improvement of rail services to Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket to Secretary of State for Transport, Justine Greening. It was presented to her on Thursday 5 July in the House of Commons.

David Ruffley MP said: 'The East of England has suffered for too long from the effects of under-investment in its rail network.

David Ruffley MP welcomes radical measures to speed up the adoption system with a 'foster-first' policy for couples who are approved to adopt.

David Ruffley MP will be attending the Bacton Village fayre and flower show on Saturday 4 August from 2pm.

David Ruffley MP said: 'I am always delighted to have to the opportunity to visit the annual village celebrations across my constituency. I am looking forward to inspecting the fruits of Suffolk horticulture at the flower show, visiting the stalls and watching the sporting activities in Bacton. '

David Ruffley MP will be presenting awards to residents and staff at St Peter's House care home in Bury St Edmunds on Friday 7 September at 11.30am.

David Ruffley MP said: 'The awards ceremony is a great way of celebrating the achievements and hard work of staff and residents alike. The winners have been voted for by the staff and residents themselves and will be announced at the ceremony with friends and family present.

David Ruffley MP will be commemorating the Battle of Britain at RAF Honington on Friday September 7 at 6pm.

David Ruffley MP said: 'The commemoration of the Battle of Britain is incredibly important as we consider not only the key part Suffolk airfields played in the Second World War, but also the continuing service of our brave Armed Forces in current conflicts who are based at RAF Honington.

I look forward to meeting personnel and their families and to watching the celebratory flyover.'

David Ruffley MP will be attending the Mid Suffolk District Council Civic Service on Sunday 9 September at 2.45pm at St Peter and Mary Church, Stowmarket.

David Ruffley MP said: 'I am very pleased to be attending the annual Civic Service. I always enjoy events like this as there is always a great community atmosphere.

Mid Suffolk Council is very responsive to my requests for help for my constituents and this is a good occasion on which to acknowledge this.'
