Broadband Bid- Ruffley Supports Broadband Access For Villages

Tuesday, 15 April, 2003

David Ruffley is supporting Central Suffolk Broadband in their bid to the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) for funding to provide broadband services to villages in his constituency.

David said: "I am doing all I can to encourage broadband services into the rural areas of my constituency. The main towns have access so why should the villages be deprived of a service that will encourage the growth of business and provide better communication for local communities? Central Suffolk Broadband is a venture that has been set up by local business people and individuals and will operate for the good of the communities in its area. If the proposal goes ahead many villages in my constituency will have access to broadband services and any profits will be ploughed back into community facilities. It is an innovative formula which I hope can be echoed elsewhere."
