David Ruffley MP to be presented to HRH the Prince of Wales at St Edmundsbury Cathedral

David Ruffley MP will welcome HRH the Prince of Wales to St Edmundsbury Cathedral on 4 March 2011. His visit to the Cathedral will celebrate two major projects undertaken in 2010: the completion of the vaulted ceiling and the refurbishment of the organ.

Mr Ruffley said: 'I am delighted that His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales has chosen to visit St Edmundsbury Cathedral as part of his tour of Suffolk. He is renowned for his interest in architecture and I know that he is an admirer of our fine Cathedral. The completion of the vaulted ceiling is an important part of the reworking of the Cathedral which will see it finished as planned by Hugh Mathew. It is another chapter in its massively distinguished history that ensures future generations can continue to worship in Bury St Edmunds as people have done for a thousand years.

I am very pleased that the organ has been refurbished and I look forward to the Inaugral Recital by Nicolas Kynaston at 5pm on 5 March, which also marks the start of The Organ Festival. I would encourage anyone in Bury St Edmunds and beyond to visit the Cathedral or attend a concert, the full details of which can be found here: http://www.stedscathedral.co.uk/organfestival .'
