David Ruffley MP calls for members of the Armed Forces to get higher priority on Suffolk council housing lists

David Ruffley has written to the Leaders of both St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Mid Suffolk District Council and the Chief Executive of Havebury Housing to ask that they consider adjusting their assessment for housing needs in favour of former members of the Armed Forces and their families.

Following news that London's Wandsworth Borough Councilhas implemented a similar scheme recently, David has asked the Councils and Havebury housing association to consider doing the same thing to support those who put their lives on the line every day out in combat zones across the world.

David Ruffley said:

'I feel it is extremely important to recognise the courageous and challenging service that our Armed Forces perform on our behalf right across the world. On their return from conflict, the last thing they should need to worry about is whether they will have a roof over their head, especially if they have a family to care for.

I believe that those who give most to this country should also be given something back.'
