David Ruffley MP Champions Tourism in Bury St Edmunds

David Ruffley MP will meet with leading representatives from the Bury St Edmunds tourism industry on 16 June at a round table discussion organised by Choose Suffolk. Choose Suffolk, is a countywide public and private partnership designed to put Suffolk on the map as the premier destination in the UK for business, investment and tourism.

Mr Ruffley said: 'The importance of tourism to Suffolk is plain for all to see- it currently employs around 30,000 people across 2000 businesses and brings in an estimated £1.6 billion per year. Many of these people visit my constituency of Bury St Edmunds which contains the Cathedral, the Theatre Royal, and much more. I am looking forward to meeting with representatives from some of those sites, hoteliers, and local councillors. It is an exciting time for Bury St Edmunds with the opening of a new shopping centre and the completion of St Edmundsbury Cathedral. We may be one of Britain's leading market towns with a wealth of history but we are not standing still. This meeting will help ensure that Bury St Edmunds will continue to be a leading tourist destination well into the future.'
