David Ruffley MP gets on his bike for breast cancer

Monday, 17 October, 2011

David Ruffley MP will be attending a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser at 12noon on Friday 21 October at 12noon, at ADSA, Western Way, Bury St Edmunds.

The campaign includes a sponsored 24 hour ride on an exercise bike - which David will get to try out - and a balloon launch to raise awareness about the illness.

David Ruffley MP said: 'In the UK, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer among women. More than 45,500 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed every year. Early detection is essential as experts estimate that the NHS Breast Screening programme saves the lives of 1,400 women each year. A significant contributing factor to these figures is to ensure that women are aware of the symptoms. Events like this serve to remind us all of the dangers of this condition as well as being an excellent way to provide much needed funds.'
