David Ruffley and other Suffolk MPs had a preliminary meeting in the House of Commons on 23 May with the new Leader of Suffolk County Council, County Councillor Mark Bee. Mr Bee briefed Suffolk MPs on how he wanted to take the County forward.
Speaking after the meeting David Ruffley said: 'There has been a bit of controversy surrounding the County Council recently. Sometimes sensible things that were being done for Suffolk tax payers were not always explained as well as they could have been.
Councillor Bee's direct no nonsense practical approach is a breath of fresh air. He will draw a line under some of the things that have not gone right and move on in a spirit of optimism which I fully support. We talked about the threat of closures of residential homes and libraries which concern me.'
