David Ruffley MP to Offically Open New Affordable Housing in Stanningfield

David Ruffley MP will officially open 22 new affordable houses in Stanningfield on Saturday 11 June. The new homes, on Vikings Close and Norse Avenue, replace ten post-war prefabs and have been constructed to exacting environmental standards. The £26 million development by Havebury Housing Partnership is a mix of two-bed bungalows and 2-, 3-, and 4-bed homes.

Mr Ruffley said: 'I am so pleased to be able to officially open these new homes that will provide much-needed affordable accommodation for families in my part of Suffolk. It is particularly impressive that these houses have been built to such a high environmental standard. Innovative construction methods, high-spec installations like ground source heats pumps and solar thermal panels and the best in modern design such as in-built water butts and bicycle hoops mean that these homes are at the forefront of sustainable development.

It is great that Havebury Housing Partnership, the local parish council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council have been working so closely with the community. With outdoor games, stalls, music and a BBQ all being laid on this ought to be a fun day in the life of the village.'
