David Ruffley MP to speak about consumer protection

On 17 June David Ruffley MP will speak at a Consumer Champion Network evening organised by the Stowmarket Victorian Quarter Residents' Association. The consumer champion network is a new initiative by Suffolk Trading Standards aimed at educating Suffolk residents about their consumer rights and stopping rogue traders and scams.

Mr Ruffley said: 'I have long been a supporter of the Stowmarket Victorian Quarter Residents' Association. They work hard to improve our town in a wide variety of ways. This evening is another example of how they are helping to strengthen the local community.

The new consumer champion network is a new initiative which will equip my constituents in Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds with the knowledge and power to protect themselves from unscrupulous traders. I warmly welcome the scheme, particularly as it will help those who are most vulnerable, such as the elderly.'
