David Ruffley MP will be unveiling a memorial on the Mildenhall Road Estate on Friday 24 February at 9.15am.

David Ruffley MP said: ' It is real privilege to unveil this sign which commemorates the contribution that Arthur Smith made to his part of Bury St Edmunds.

He was a man of substance- a Second World War veteran, public servant in the Post Office and, throughout his life, a mainstay of the Mildenhall Road Estate, a place for which he did so much.

His funeral last year, at which I was privileged to give the address, drew huge numbers of people.

This sign will be an enduring memorial to Arthur's life and work.'
