David Ruffley: 'Publication of voluntary repayments'

Thursday, 25 June, 2009

'In 2006-7 I was reimbursed for part of the cost of furniture and this was decided by the Fees Office and was within the rules at the time. I accept that their ruling was open to criticism. After discussions with my Party's scrutiny panel I have made a voluntary repayment of nine hundred and twenty four pounds.

I reviewed other allowances and I noticed that for the period April 2005 to December 2006 there had been an overpayment to me of mortgage interest of three hundred and one pounds and fifty five pence in total. I drew this to the attention of the Fees Office on 28 May 2009 and repaid that amount.'
