"Minister's inaction on aircraft medical equipment campaign is totally unacceptable" says Ruffley

David Ruffley MP is helping to launch a web campaign started by his constituent, Mrs Mary Tingle, whose husband sadly died after suffering a heart attack on a flight from Athens that had little, or no, medical equipment on board. David has been involved in this campaign since Mrs Tingle contacted him in 2004 after the loss of her husband.

David said:

'Having been involved with this campaign since its inception I am happy to help launch this new website, which can be found at www.doatoday.co.uk. Mary Tingle suffered the tragic loss of her husband but has been campaigning tirelessly since to try and ensure that other lives are not lost in this way in the future.

'I think it is imperative for the Government to tackle this issue and not simply hide behind an excuse that this is a European Union problem. The Government must do more to prevent further needless loss of life.

'I am now contacting the Government Minister responsible again to ask for his response to Mrs Tingle's campaign and her disappointment with the Minister's failure to meet the promises he previously made.'

Mary Tingle said:

'I am very disappointed that the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, for the Department of Transport, misled us in June 2004 and gave us false hope that this equipment was at last going to be on all flights.'
