Mobile Post Office plan appealed

Plans to provide a mobile post office in Gislingham will cause 'gross disruption' to residents, an MP has said.

David Ruffley, MP for Stowmarket, has condemned Post Office Ltd's decision to scrap the village post office in favour of an outreach service.

Residents lost their battle to keep the vital service under a national review of the network last year.

Instead, villagers are being offered a mobile service to operate from 11.30am-1.30pm, Monday to Friday, in Westview Gardens.

Mr Ruffley said: "The present proposal makes no sense at all and will cause gross disruption to my constituents, who currently enjoy peace and quiet in Westview Gardens."

He has now written to Post Office Ltd urging it to reconsider its decision to close Gislingham Post Office.

"They must be getting desperate to find somewhere to park their mobile service if this is the best option they can come up with. I call on them to think again," Mr Ruffley said.
