Ruffley to chair Howard Estate law and order public meeting

David Ruffley will chair a public meeting on the Howard Estate to be held on Friday, 25 February at 7.00 pm for 7.30 pm at the Howard Estate Community Centre, Bury St Edmunds.

The meeting will be preceded by the official opening of the new kitchen at the Community Centre by MP David Ruffley and County Councillor David Lockwood at 7.15 pm.

The meeting was called following concern expressed about local law and order and crime prevention issues by various groups of local residents including Neighbourhood Watch, HEART (Howard Estate Association of Residents and Tenants) and the Over Sixties Club.

The meeting will be chaired by David Ruffley and joining him on the panel will be Cllr David Lockwood, Chief Inspector Andy Henwood, Sector Commander Bury St Edmunds, Mike Dawson, Corporate Director (Community) at St Edmundsbury Borough Council and a representative from the Havebury Housing Partnership.

David said: 'I congratulate the residents' groups on the Howard Estate for their initiative in setting up this public meeting and I was delighted to accept their invitation to chair it for them. Law and order issues are of great concern to many of my constituents- as they are to me- so anything that can be done to alleviate their concerns is very welcome. I am pleased that a Neighbourhood Watch is being set up on the Howard Estate. I give it my full support and stand ready to assist in any way that I can. I encourage Howard Estate residents to come and express their views to the panel- we are here to help.'
