Ruffley to attend official opening of West Suffolk House

Monday, 6 July, 2009

David Ruffley MP will be attending the official opening of West Suffolk House which will be performed by Shadow Leader of the House of Commons, Alan Duncan MP, on Friday 10 July.

David said:

'I am delighted to be attending the opening of West Suffolk House. The new building has many 'green' features, which will reduce the carbon footprint of both Suffolk County Council and St Edmundsbury Borough Council.

'The building has been designed to be energy efficient, including solar panels which track sunlight providing around 25% of the hot water and a rainwater collection system to flush the toilets. A ground source heat pump will reduce energy costs and the building has been designed in a way that lets air circulate to avoid the need for mechanical- and costly- air conditioning.

'Not only does this new building deliver huge environmental savings but council tax payers will also see added value in both St Edmundsbury and Suffolk County Council operating out of one location in the town.'
