Monday, 12 September, 2005

David Ruffley will be joining residents of the Mildenhall Road Estate and representatives of St Edmundsbury Borough Council at a Celebration Lunch on Tuesday, 13 September. David will make a short speech of congratulation to the guests shortly after 1.00 p.m.

The Phoenix Project was launched to provide a new community centre on the Mildenhall Road Estate in Bury St Edmunds and has been supported financially by St Edmundsbury Borough Council and the Big Lottery Fund. Building is due to start this autumn.

David said: 'I am delighted to be joining my constituents in celebrating their success in raising funds for the new community centre on the Mildenhall Road Estate. This new facility is much needed and will provide a focal point for the community. I have lobbied hard for better facilities on this estate since becoming MP for Bury in 1997 and I have supported this project from the outset so it is good to see it coming to fruition. I congratulate everyone involved in the project and thank them all for their contribution.'
