Ruffley Connects with Young People in Bury

Wednesday, 9 July, 2003

David Ruffley will be holding a 'Young People's Surgery' at Connexions Suffolk on Friday, 11 July from 2.30 to 3.30 p.m. This will be held in the library of the Suffolk Connexions offices at 43 St Andrews Street South, Bury St Edmunds.

All Members of Parliament were encouraged to hold a surgery for young people by Ivan Lewis, the Minister for Young People and Adult Skills. David was only too pleased to take up the challenge.

Connexions Suffolk is a service for young people, which links together partner agencies to provide independent advice and support on issues which affect their future such as training and work options, housing, benefits and personal development issues. The service is for all 13 - 19 year olds (and up to 25 if they have extra needs). Every young person has access to a Connexions Personal Adviser through school or college, at local one-stop shops and other places such as youth clubs and job centres.

David said: 'Young people are our future and I am always keen to hear their views and answer their questions. I am pleased that Suffolk Connexions have been able to arrange this 'Young People's Surgery' for me and I congratulate them on the work they do for young people in my constituency.'
