Ruffley Continues His Ongoing Campaign to Help Suffolk's Cancer Patients in a Letter to Regional Health Chief Executive

Tuesday, 18 February, 2003

David Ruffley has today written to the Chief Executive of Norfolk, Suffolk & Cambridgeshire Strategic Health Authority, Mr Peter Houghton, to ask for information about how NHS Cancer Plan money is being spent in his constituency.

David said 'I have been involved in an ongoing campaign to ensure that Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket receive adequate funding for Cancer patients. Extra funding obviously is crucial but so are the practical steps that are introduced to ensure that the funding is spent properly.

'I will continue to fight for extra funding for local patients. Specific goals and priorities must be highlighted so that local people can receive the adequate treatment that they need.

'Local organisations such as St Nicholas' Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Relief work tirelessly to help local people; I will fight to ensure these worthwhile groups receive adequate funding.'
