Ruffley Continues Rural Post Office Campaign in Signing New House Of Commons Motion

Monday, 10 February, 2003

David Ruffley MP has signed Early Day Motion 572 in the House of Commons on Post Office Card Accounts.

David said: 'The Government is simply putting obstacle after obstacle in the way of pensioners who want to draw their pension over the counter of our rural post offices instead of going through their own high street bank to do it. Many local pensioners want to do this not only for convenience but also because they will be supporting the livelihood of their local sub postmaster or sub postmistress. This motion is for the survival of our rural sub post office. It is as simple as that.'
