Ruffley Cracks Down On Graffiti In Town

Monday, 16 December, 2002

Following complaints from local residents about offensive graffiti on the 'one-way' sign at the top of Pump Lane in Bury St Edmunds, David Ruffley raised the issue with Nigel Badcock, Director of Construction Services and Works at St Edmundsbury Borough Council. As a result of David drawing this to the Council's attention, the graffiti was removed last week.

David said: 'Graffiti of this kind is offensive to my constituents and every effort should be made to remove it immediately it is reported. I am very pleased that the Council acted quickly once I drew the Pump Lane graffiti to their attention. Anyone spotting graffiti and wishing to report it can ring St Edmundsbury's graffiti 'hotline' on 01284 757320.'
