Ruffley Debates Religious and Ethical Issues with Bury Christian Youth

Tuesday, 11 March, 2003

David Ruffley MP will speak to members of the Bury St Edmunds and District Christian Youth at 7.30 p.m. on Friday, 14 March at Garland Street Baptist Church, Bury St Edmunds.

Bury Christian Youth (BCY) has been in existence for over twelve years. BCY Staff are regularly invited to middle and upper schools in the area. Assemblies are a regular feature but they are also involved in many lessons and conferences about religious and ethical issues.

David will speak to BCY members during the first part of the meeting. There will then be a panel session when he will be joined in answering questions by the Reverend Jonathan Ford, Minister of Christ Church, Moreton Hall, and BCY members Ben Mathers and Duncan MacInnes.

David said: 'The situation in Iraq means that the interaction between political and moral issues is at the forefront of people's minds- whatever their age. I expect Iraq will be at the top of the agenda on Friday. Although I keep in regular touch with church leaders and their congregations in my constituency, this meeting will give me the opportunity to discuss the moral and religious issues that are specifically of concern to young people. I am sure it will be a lively and stimulating evening.'
