Ruffley Gives Backing to Help the Hospices

David Ruffley MP for Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket has just signed an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons congratulating the work of Help the Hospices.

David said, 'I have signed this motion to show my support and offer my thanks to all of the staff and volunteers such as those in St Nicholas' in Bury St Edmunds who work tirelessly to provide outstanding care to so many people.

'Help the Hospices is the national charity for the hospice movement. It supports hospices in their vital work on the frontline of caring for people who face the end of their life and caring for those who love them. The support they provide takes many forms - training, education, information, grant-aid, advice and national fundraising events and activities.

'The motion also highlights the need for urgent attention to be paid to Help the Hospices recommendations, particularly about funding. Local care providers, such as St Nicholas' Hospice need greater NHS contributions for their funding.

'I will continue to raise my local concerns at a national level to ensure that St Nicholas' and other local care providers get their fair share of funding.'
