Ruffley Highlights Need for Common Agricultural Policy Reform

Thursday, 22 May, 2003

David Ruffley MP has signed a House of Commons Early Day Motion calling for reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The motion, signed by over 60 MPs, highlights the fact that reform of CAP is vital to defend the interests of British farmers.

David said, 'So many farmers in my constituency tell me about the absolute need for reform of CAP not only to protect their livelihoods but also to benefit British consumers. I believe that the Government and Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Ministers should work harder at future European Summits to obtain a better deal for Suffolk's farmers.'
