David Ruffley is supporting Age Concern and the Bury St Edmunds Town Trust, of which he is a Patron, with their project to restore Elsey's Yard, the historic maltings complex in the heart of Bury St Edmunds conservation area and convert it into a day care centre and community resource complex.

David supported their application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for funding totalling approximately £900,000. However, to ensure the success of the project, Age Concern is also looking to St Edmundsbury Borough Council to provide additional funding. David has recently written to the Chief Executive to support this additional funding bid.

David said: 'I am extremely keen that this project goes ahead because it will provide an excellent new facility in the heart of the town which will provide my constituents with much needed new services. It will also be great to see one of the town's historic buildings being restored and put to such a good use. I do hope St Edmundsbury will be able to come up with the additional funding needed to make this project a success.'
