David Ruffley MP will be meeting with the Chief Executive of Havebury Housing Association, Steve Cook, on Friday 28 March to discuss the provision of affordable homes in Suffolk and the National Housing Policy.
Housing Associations working with St Edmundsbury Borough Council have recently secured £3.5million in funding for 161 new affordable homes over the next three years. Another 74 homes are also in the pipeline.
David said:
'The current state of the housing market can make it incredibly difficult to get on the property ladder.
'It is fantastic news that £3.5million has been secured for another 161 affordable homes in our area and that further schemes will see another 74 homes built.
'I am inundated with correspondence from my constituents, especially young people, who are desperate to buy their own home. It is a dreadful situation and I am determined to see more Suffolk residents make the dream of owning their own home a reality.
'I hope that my meeting with Havebury's Chief Executive, Steve Cook, will help me gauge what more politicians at Westminster can do to address this problem.'
