David Ruffley MP will be meeting with the key players involved in the relocation of Bury Town FC on Friday 12 December.
David will be meeting with St Edmundsbury Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Culture and Sport, Councillor Lynsey Alexander, the Chairman of Bury Town FC, Russell Ward, and St Edmundsbury Borough Council's Corporate Director for Community, Mike Dawson.
Bury Town FC is hoping to move to a site on Moreton Hall in an ambitious £2million scheme funded by the Borough Council and the Football Foundation.
David said:
'This is an ambitious project and a scheme that will do a great deal for sport in our community. I am keen to see it progress and will use all my influence as Member of Parliament to ensure this new stadium receives the funding it deserves.
'I am looking forward to meeting with both the Borough Council and the Chairman of Bury Town FC, Russell Ward, so that I am fully appraised of the nature of the scheme and any potential pitfalls that I may assist them with.
'In my opinion, this is a logical move for Bury Town FC that will enable them to expand and field reserves, youth, women's and girls' sides. A site on Moreton Hall will be much more accessible and will have excellent transport links with the A14.
'This is proving to be an historic year for Bury Town FC- they reached the first round proper of the FA Cup for the first time in 40years and now the club has the prospect of moving to state of the art facilities. I will be doing all I can to ensure that this vision becomes a reality.'
