David Ruffley MP will be meeting with the West Suffolk branch of the Women's Institute (WI) on Friday 1 May to discuss the 'End Violence Against Women' campaign.

Up to three million women in the UK are affected by violence every year and the local WI is concerned about the postcode lottery affecting women who need to access support services following rape, domestic violence, forced marriage and other forms of violence.

David said:

'End Violence Against Women (EVAW) is a coalition representing 7 million individuals and organisations across the UK who, like me, believe we can and must create a world free from the threat and reality of violence against women.

'Any form of violence against women is deplorable and I am keen to meet with the West Suffolk branch of the WI to discuss how we can ensure that women in Suffolk to not fall foul of the postcode lottery that affects access to support services.

'The WI is concerned that many specialist services are simply absent and centres which do exist are in peril of closure because of a lack of long-term funding. I want to leave this meeting on Friday with a clear message to take back to my colleagues at Westminster on how we can better provide for the most vulnerable women in our community.'
