Ruffley meets Suffolk's business leaders

Thursday, 25 November, 2010

David Ruffley MP will attend the second meeting of the Business Community and Suffolk MPs Liaison Group on Friday 26th November at 3pm in the BT Headquarters in Martlesham.

David said: 'Issues on the agenda include: the provision of broadband across rural Suffolk; the formation of a new Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) for Norfolk and Suffolk; tourism in Suffolk and the London Olympics 2012.

The lack of proper broadband access across much of the county has been a bar to innovation. Businesses today cannot operate without a high-speed internet connection. I will be pushing to ensure that this deficiency is rectified.

The proposed LEP for Norfolk and Suffolk has the potential to be a great boost for local business in this time of economic difficulty. I want to ensure that Suffolk is not the poor relation in any new arrangement.

Suffolk is blessed with so many great tourist attractions with its serene landscapes, coastline and churches. In my own constituency, Bury St Edmunds has first-class Georgian architecture, Suffolk's cathedral and the atmospheric Abbey Gardens. I hope that in 2012 we can encourage visitors to the Olympics to venture beyond London and see what a fine county Suffolk is.'
