David Ruffley has received a large number of representations from residents in the Cedars Park area of Stowmarket and beyond against the planning application submitted by Stowmarket Multi Modal Distribution Park and GB Railfreight Ltd for a major rail freight depot on land adjoining the A1120 at Stowmarket. The site is across the road from Tesco's.
David Ruffley is therefore holding a site meeting on Friday, 20 June at 11.00 a.m. He has invited local residents to meet him at the entrance to Tesco's to inform him of their views. Councillor Ian Mason, Mayor of Needham Market, will also be in attendance.
David said: 'I share residents' concern about a major rail freight depot being built on their doorstep. I am not opposed to commercial development as such but it must be in an appropriate place. The additional HGV traffic this will generate on the A14, together with noise and pollution, makes this site unsuitable for this type of operation. I shall be listening to residents' concerns on Friday and then deciding what action I can take to represent them as their local Member of Parliament.'
