Ruffley supports National Bookstart Day at Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket Libraries

Tuesday, 6 October, 2009

David Ruffley MP will be at Bury St Edmunds Library in Sergeants Walk on Friday 9 October to support National Bookstart Day. David has been invited to read to the children during the session.

David will also drop in to the National Bookstart Day event at Stowmarket Library in Milton Road.

National Bookstart Day celebrates Bookstart, the national programme run by the charity, Booktrust, which gives a gift of free books to all babies, toddlers and pre-school children in the U.K.

This year's celebration is all about rhymes and during the Bookstart events the children will have fun sharing their favourite rhymes and listening to new ones.

David said: 'I am delighted to support National Bookstart Day. Encouraging young children to develop a love of books is so important. If reading becomes an enjoyable habit from a young age it gives children a great start to their education and the advantages remain with them throughout life.

'I look forward to sharing my love of books with the children as well as reading to them.'
