David Ruffley MP will be visiting the Healthy Mind Centre in Bury St Edmunds on Wednesday 6 September at 9.30am. He has been vocal about the crisis in mental health funding.
The Healthy Mind Centre provides services to people aged 16 or over who are suffering from mental ill health or whose mental health and well-being is at risk. Their services are open to all and the vast majority are free at the point of delivery.
The centre incorporates the West Suffolk branch of Mind. Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales. They work to create a better life for everyone with experience of mental distress by:
• advancing the views, needs and ambitions of people with mental health problems
• challenging discrimination and promoting inclusion
• influencing policy through campaigning and education
• inspiring the development of quality services which reflect expressed need and diversity
• achieving equal rights through campaigning and education.
David said:
'I am delighted to have the opportunity to visit the Healthy Mind Centre.
'One in four of us will experience a mental health problem at some point during our life. Each year more than 250,000 people are admitted to psychiatric hospitals and over 4,000 people take their own lives.
'This visit will give me a valuable insight into the important work that Mind do and the chance to meet with the centre's staff. I hope to receive some idea of how politicians can do more to support this essential work.'
