Ruffley to unveil Havebury Housing Partnership's Investors in People plaque

Monday, 27 April, 2009

David Ruffley MP will be officially unveiling Havebury Housing Partnership's Investors in People plaque on Friday 1 May at 3pm.

Havebury was formed in 2001 to take ownership of the housing stock of St. Edmundsbury Borough Council. When the Council held a ballot of tenants living in Council accommodation a majority of tenants (71.5%) expressed their individual choice and chose Havebury as their new landlord. This led to almost 6,000 homes being purchased by Havebury.

Investors in People is a voluntary assessment scheme supported by the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills.

There will be a photo opportunity when David unveils the plaque and the local press are invited to attend.

David said:

'At the time of a housing crisis, social housing is even more important than ever in the Bury St Edmunds area. Therefore, I am delighted that Havebury Housing has been accredited with Investors in People status.

'The scheme aims to improve organisational performance through better planning, implementation and evaluation of learning and development programmes, across organisations of all sizes and sectors.

'It will give me great pleasure to meet with the Chief Executive of Havebury, Steve Cook, and perform the official unveiling of their Investors in People plaque.'
