Ruffley urges his constituents to nominate local people for the Nationwide Awards for Voluntary Endeavour

Thursday, 23 March, 2006

David Ruffley MP has today urged people across Suffolk to nominate their local community's hard working volunteers for the Nationwide Awards for Voluntary Endeavour.

Now in its ninth year, the Nationwide Awards for Voluntary Endeavour is a national awards scheme designed to recognise individuals and groups throughout the UK who have made an outstanding contribution to their local community.

The scheme was set up by Nationwide, with support from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and its sister organisations in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and the Newspaper Society.

David said:

'There are many hard working volunteers across Suffolk who use their spare time to help others.

'The Nationwide Awards for Voluntary Endeavour are a fantastic way to give recognition to the efforts of people who do not seek the limelight but who make a real difference to the lives of others

'I would urge my constituents to put forward those people in their community who quietly work towards making Suffolk a better place for all of us to live. These people may not seek recognition but they thoroughly deserve it.'
