David Ruffley MP has this week called on local people to support Dementia Awareness Week which is taking place between 5 - 11 July.
The Alzheimer's Society's campaign aims to raise awareness of dementia and how to reduce your risk, and to raise vital funds to support people with dementia and their carers.
This year's theme for Dementia Awareness Week is 'Be head strong'. It's about being aware of the things people can do to reduce their risk of developing dementia.
The West Suffolk branch of the Alzheimer's Society is located on Moreton Hall and anyone wishing to support the branch can contact them on 01284 766433.
David said:
'There are 700,000 people with dementia in the UK with numbers set to rise to one million by 2025. This year I would urge residents across Suffolk to support the Alzheimer's Society's 'Be head strong' campaign during Dementia Awareness Week.
'There is an excellent branch of the Alzheimer's Society in West Suffolk, located on the Moreton Hall estate, and anyone wishing to get in contact with them can do so on 01284 766 433.
'Dementia is not a natural part of ageing and there are steps you can take at any age to help reduce your risk. The Alzheimer's Society's advice includes eating healthily, keeping active, reducing blood pressure and cholesterol, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoiding smoking.'
