David Ruffley MP will visit Angel Hill Surgery in Bury St Edmunds on Friday, 11 September in the first of a series of meetings with general practitioners and associated nursing and practice staff in general practices throughout his constituency.

Meetings between MPs and GPs are being encouraged by the British Medical Association (BMA) in a scheme set up to give MPs the opportunity to learn more about the delivery of primary care.

Angel Hill Surgery has ten GPs headed by senior partner, Dr Peter Kilner. They are supported by a group of nurses with a wide range of skills, as well as community nurses, health visitors and midwives.

David said: 'I have visited GP surgeries on many occasions as the local MP and they know they can always contact me if necessary. But I also wanted to participate in the BMA's scheme to show my support for all the hard work general practitioners and associated staff do for our local communities.

'The NHS has had a high profile recently so this series of visits I am undertaking will be a valuable opportunity for an exchange of views about both local and national health issues.'
