David Ruffley MP will visit Stowhealth in Violet Hill Road, Stowmarket on Friday, 9 October to continue his series of meetings with local general practitioners and their associated practice staff.

Stowhealth is a large general practice surgery covering an area from Haughley Green to the north and Moats Tye to the South of Stowmarket. Ten doctors practice at Stowhealth and they are supported by a nursing team and community care practitioners. Stowhealth offers a wide range of primary care services and has an on site dispensary.

Meetings between MPs and GPs are being encouraged by the British Medical Association (BMA) in a scheme set up to give MPs the opportunity to learn more about the delivery of primary care.

David said: 'I have visited GP surgeries on many occasions as the local MP and they know they can always contact me if necessary. But I also wanted to participate in the BMA's scheme to show my support for all the hard work general practitioners and associated staff do for our local communities.

'At Stowhealth I will be holding an informal 'Meet your MP' session for the doctors and staff so I can chat informally to them as they come and go during their morning coffee break.

'The NHS has had a high profile recently so this series of visits I am undertaking will be a valuable opportunity for an exchange of views about both local and national health issues.'
