David Ruffley MP's website DavidRuffleyMP.com has been nominated as a finalist in the British Computer Society MP Website Awards 2007.

Awards are given to the best MP websites in three categories:

Design

Engagement

Accessibility

There is also an award for the website selected as overall winner.

Only 35 MPs, of the 646 in the House of Commons, have had their website nominated for an award.

The awards will take place on 7 November 2007 at the House of Commons and judging will be undertaken by key political journalists including Quentin Letts, Patrick Wintour and Michael Kallenback.

David said:

'It has always been my aim to ensure that my work as Member of Parliament is as accessible as possible.

'The internet is continually giving us new ways to communicate with each other and, wherever possible, I try to integrate these into my website.

'For example I now offer video and audio podcasts, covering issues of local and national significance, alongside all the usual content that keeps visitors updated on my work in the constituency and at Westminster.

'More recently, I have begun using the social networking website Facebook and I have been deeply impressed by the level of activism taking place and the heartfelt desire of the online community to improve the world in which we live.

'I am delighted that my online work has been recognised with a nomination for a BCS MP Website Award and I will continue to improve my online accessibility wherever possible.'
