Shadow Minister for Police Reform to visit Suffolk Constabulary HQ for briefing on bureaucracy busting initiative

Thursday, 23 April, 2009

David Ruffley MP, the Shadow Minister for Police Reform, will be visiting the headquarters of Suffolk Constabulary on Friday 24 April.

David's briefing will include a meeting with Detective Chief Inspector Louisa Pepper to discuss Quest- a bureaucracy busting initiative to get more police back on the beat.

David Ruffley has been Shadow Minister for Police Reform since July 2007 when he was promoted from his previous position as Shadow Minister for Welfare Reform by the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition, David Cameron MP.

David said:

'As Shadow Minster for Police Reform I have the pleasure of meeting with hard working policemen and women across the UK on a regular basis. This week I am delighted to have the opportunity to receiving a briefing on issues of local and national significance from officers in our own county.

'Local people in Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket and across Suffolk are familiar with the excellent work done by our local constabulary. Most recently they have been out in force minimising disruption and keeping a watchful eye on our safety during the Royal Maundy visit and the recent East Anglian derby between Ipswich and Norwich. On both occasions their efforts were exemplary and a true credit to our county.

'This Friday I will be receiving a briefing on, among other issues, a bureaucracy busting initiative called 'Quest' which aims to get more police back where local people want to see them- on the beat.'
