Suffolk Health Crisis: Ruffley investigates Mental Health facilities

Thursday, 5 October, 2006

David Ruffley MP, the Shadow Minister for Welfare Reform, will be visiting Stowmarket Community Resource Centre on Friday 6 October.

Operated by East Suffolk Mind, the centre offers a safe and friendly environment, alongside social activities and support.

The centre is open to anyone, but in particular people who have experienced mental health problems, emotional distress or who feel isolated.

New visitors to the centre have an initial goal planning session with staff to determine how the centre can best be of use.

David said:

'The Stowmarket Community Resource Centre offers an incredibly valuable service to residents of Stowmarket and the surrounding area.

'The closure of the Old Fox House was a blow to the local community, however, I am told that some of those who used to attend the Old Fox House have since begun making use of the facilities on offer at the Resource Centre.

'Operated by East Suffolk Mind, the centre offers advice, support services, anxiety management courses and various personal development courses throughout the year.

'I look forward to meeting with the Manager of the Resource Centre, Mr Rick Keating-Fedders, and listening to what he has to say about the provision of mental health facilities locally.'
