Superfast Surfing for Suffolk
David Ruffley MP is campaigning for superfast broadband in Suffolk, following expressions of huge concern from constituents. Along with fellow MPs he has written a letter to Dr Andy Wood, the Chairman of Choose Suffolk, in support of a bid for Government funds.
David Ruffley said: 'The Government has said that it has set aside £50 million for the next wave of superfast broadband projects and that the bidding process will shortly get underway. It is absolutely crucial that Suffolk secures a settlement that will enable it to have the best broadband access possible. If we are to get the local economy to grow more strongly we must help small and medium businesses as they make up such a large part of the Suffolk economy. Businessmen and businesswomen in the Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket area tell me that they desperately need fast broadband to compete. Standing still is not an option. We need Government funds to make this happen.'
