Village Values: Ruffley Congratulates Pakenham at Grand Opening of New Village Hall

Tuesday, 7 October, 2003

David Ruffley will be participating in the Grand Opening of the new Pakenham Village Hall at 2.00 p.m. on Saturday, 11 October. David will speak after Radio Suffolk's 'Fred the Countryman' has officially opened the Village Hall.

The Grand Opening is the culmination of over two years of planning and fundraising led by the Pakenham Village Hall and Playing Field Association. David Ruffley supported their successful Lottery bid and intervened with the Charity Commission and Government Ministers to assist their fundraising efforts.

The new Village Hall, which also includes the relocated Pakenham Post Office, will provide additional and improved facilities for the local community.

David Ruffley said: 'Protecting Village Values is an important aspect of my work as the local Member of Parliament. I have supported this project since its inception and I am delighted to be taking part in the Grand Opening. The local community has worked exceptionally hard to achieve these excellent new facilities which will benefit so many people in the village. This project is a fine example of the public spirited way a community has worked for the common good- they are the backbone of society.'
