| David Ruffley MP has today welcomed the news that Moreton Hall, in Bury St Edmunds, has the highest life expectancy in the whole of England and Wales. |
|
|
|
| New figures published by the ONS reveal that people living in Moreton Hall can expect to live to 93.4 years old. |
|
|
|
| Interestingly there is also a breakdown for all other wards in David Ruffley’s Constituency |
|

|
| David said: |
|
|
|
| “As the MP for the town for close to a decade these figures come as no surprise to me. |
|
|
|
| “The reason we live so long in Bury St Edmunds is that we combine the best of the old with the best of the new. |
|
|
|
| “The best of the old is our terrific heritage – the Abbey which gave us Magna Carta and our beautiful Georgian architecture. |
|
|
|
| “Yet we are also forward looking, positive and get the best out of that modern world. |
|
|
|
| “That’s why we have the most profitable shops in the East of England. We are restoring our Georgian theatre, the Theatre Royal, to bring it into the Twenty First Century. |
|
|
|
| “The local brewer, Greene King, is now one of the most successful companies in Western Europe and, of course, the new Cathedral tower celebrating the start of the Twenty First Century is another example of how we keep pace with the times while staying in sympathy with our historical heritage. |
|
| “By combining the best of the old with the best of the new we will continue to have a healthy and long living population in the best county in England – Suffolk. |
|
|
|
| “Moreton Hall is a growing, vibrant community with some wonderful facilities including its own GP Surgery, Post Office, local shops and two excellent Primary Schools. |
|
|
|
| “Sebert Wood Primary School recently received a fantastic report from Ofsted while Abbots Green Community Primary School is a state of the art facility housed in an eco-friendly structure.” |
