Whiting Street Mast Victory: Ruffley Welcomes Outcome of Appeal after Robust Campaign

David Ruffley received news today that the Planning Inspector has dismissed the appeal by Hutchinson 3G against refusal of planning permission to install a mobile phone mast on top of the BT Telephone Exchange building in Whiting Street.

David said: “I am delighted that the Planning Inspector has backed the decision by St Edmundsbury Borough Council to reject a mast on this site. It is a victory for common sense. A mast here would have been quite out of character in the historic core zone of our town. Local councillor, Paul Farmer, and I have consistently opposed a mast on this site. I know our views are shared by a very large number of residents in the Whiting Street area. After two unsuccessful appeals by Hutchinson 3G I hope this will now be the end of the matter.”
