Ruffley to tour improved Stowmarket Leisure Centre

David Ruffley MP will be given a tour of the new and ongoing improvements to Stowmarket Leisure Centre on Friday 14 July at 4pm.

Mr Ruffley will be met by Anselm Gurney, Leisure Administration Manager, Bob Halls, Fitness Manager, Cllr Tim Passmore, Leader of Mid Suffolk District Council, and Cllr Diana Kearsley, Mid Suffolk District Council Portfolio Holder for Community and Environment.

David Ruffley will be given a tour of the ‘phase one’ improvements to the leisure centre and shown the plans and current work for ‘phase two’.

Leisure Centre staff will also explain the merits of the Banana Fitness regime to David Ruffley.

Improvements to the Leisure Centre include doubling the size of the fitness suite with new equipment, décor, lighting and air conditioning. Other changes include improving the refreshments available on site by refurbishing the dining area and developing a nutritious health conscious menu.

David said:

“The partnership between Mid Suffolk District Council and Sports Leisure Management has seen some fantastic improvements to Stowmarket Leisure Centre and more are due to come.

“I look forward to having a tour of the new facilities and listening to what plans they have for the future.

“Stowmarket is a fantastic town which deserves top class facilities – I have every confidence that this new partnership will deliver them.”

Cllr Diana Kearsley added:

“We read more and more in the press about the importance of exercise to ensure a more healthier life - the superb facilities now available to people in and around Stowmarket are second to none. The Stowmarket Leisure Centre gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy being healthy.”
