'Just two weeks after I highlighted the need for Suffolk's elderly to have adequate access to the vaccination the Government's Head of Immunisation now tells us there is a shortage of the jabs. This is simply unacceptable."

David Ruffley MP has today expressed his alarm that at this crucial stage in the flu vaccination period the Department of Health's Head of Immunisation to England's GPs has confirmed that stocks of the annual flu jab are running out.

David Ruffley MP has called a meeting at the St Edmundsbury Borough Council offices to discuss the appalling state of the site of the former Merry Go Round public house on the Howard Estate in Bury St Edmunds at 9.30 a.m. on Friday, 25th November.

The Merry Go Round public house has been derelict for some time and negotiations between St Edmundsbury and the long leaseholder of the property have failed to produce a solution for residents.

David Ruffley MP is to meet with St Edmundsbury Borough Councillor Christopher Spicer and representatives from Troston Farms to discuss the concerns raised by the residents of Troston regarding proposed mobile chicken sheds on the farm grounds.

David's meeting will take place between 11.00am and 12.00 on Friday 25 November.

Residents of Troston have expressed concerns that the erection of chicken sheds and the housing of 400 free range chickens on the site will result in increased noise and odour from the farm.

David Ruffley MP will be addressing two meetings of the Bury St Edmunds business community on Friday November 25.

Between 8.20 and 9.20 David will be speaking at The Very Early Lunch Club at the Angel Hotel. The Very Early Lunch Club is a business networking club which was set up in 2004 to provide networking opportunities for local businesses in a 'relaxed and welcoming environment'. Previous speakers include Andrew Duff MEP, Walter Herriot MBE and Tom Lloyd, Chief Constable of Cambridgeshire.

David Ruffley MP has today given his backing to the 'Rickinghall Fix 2006' project.

The Rickinghall Village Hall and Playing Field project was selected from over 1,000 applications to compete, via public vote, for an award of £50,000. The short listed projects will be showcased on ITV regional news this week.

The 'Rickinghall Fix 2006' project aims to update the current outdoor facilities in the local playing field, by providing a meeting place for teenagers, replacing swings, providing an accessible public toilet and replacing the existing sports surface.

David Ruffley MP has today written to Mike Stonard, Chief Executive at Suffolk West PCT, asking that the PCT take action to address its performance in ensuring as many elderly residents as possible have received flu vaccinations.

The Healthcare Commission 2004 performance ratings reveal that Suffolk West PCT was the least effective of all PCTs in Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire at vaccinating the over 65 population against flu.

David Ruffley MP will be visiting the St John's Centre in Bury St Edmunds at 1.00pm on Friday 28 October to view the building and plans for its future.

The centre currently has a number of uses including The Golden Days Club- a social club for the elderly, St John's Church Sunday School and the Just Traid Shop- open five days a week selling fair trade goods from developing countries.

David Ruffley will officially open the new Clydesdale Bank Financial Solutions Centre in Fornham All Saints at 11.00 a.m. on Friday, 28 October.

The new centre is at: Unit 8, Moseley's Barn, Fornham All Saints, Bury St Edmunds, IP28 6JY.

This new enterprise will be a regional centre for Clydesdale's agri-business, dealing with high net worth individuals and entrepreneurs. Please note it is not a retail bank branch.

David Ruffley MP will be holding two meetings with Suffolk West PCT Chief Executive, Mike Stonard and Director of Service, Transformation and Development, Mark Crawley on Friday 28 October.

The first meeting is to discuss the prospect of a doctors' surgery for the village of Thurston at which Mid Suffolk District Councillor Derrick Haley and County Councillor Sue Sida-Locket will also be in attendance.
