David Ruffley MP has today written to the Prime Minister calling on him to save the thousands of safe and popular food supplements that are under threat.

David met with the manager of Holland & Barrett in Bury St Edmunds on Friday, 10 June to discuss this issue and has been campaigning for a number of months on behalf of his constituents. David has also recently signed an Early Day Motion in parliament highlighting this issue.

David Ruffley has written to the Home Secretary to oppose plans for a regional Police Force for East Anglia.

The Home Secretary has recently backed the merger of the police in Suffolk, Norfolk, and Cambridgeshire into one regional force.

David said: 'I have written to the Home Secretary, on behalf of my constituents, who face the loss of their local Police Constabulary. I am completely opposed to any move that will reduce the level of accountability of the police to local people.

David Ruffley MP has today expressed his concern for first time home buyers, in the Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket area, because of new figures provided for him by Halifax plc.

THESE FIGURES SHOW THAT HOUSE PRICES HAVE INCREASED MORE IN THE BURY ST EDMUNDS AND STOWMARKET AREA THAN BOTH THE EAST OF ENGLAND REGION AND THE UK AS A WHOLE OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS. THE AVERAGE 5 YEAR HOUSE PRICE INCREASE FOR HIS CONSTITUENCY IS A STAGGERING 93%.

David said: 'Rising house prices are good news for existing homeowners. But my concern is for those who cannot get on the property ladder.

gjhfgjhhRuffley attends Mildenhall Road Estate Celebration Lunch to mark success of fundraising for new Community Centre

David Ruffley will be joining residents of the Mildenhall Road Estate and representatives of St Edmundsbury Borough Council at a Celebration Lunch on Tuesday, 13 September. David will make a short speech of congratulation to the guests shortly after 1.00 p.m.

The Phoenix Project was launched to provide a new community centre on the Mildenhall Road Estate in Bury St Edmunds and has been supported financially by St Edmundsbury Borough Council and the Big Lottery Fund. Building is due to start this autumn.

David Ruffley has been invited to address the Over 60s group of Howard Estate residents on Tuesday, 13 September in the Howard Estate Community Centre in St Olaves Road, Bury St Edmunds. The group is run by Mr Ernie Broome, a St Olaves Road resident.

David will talk about his role as MP for Bury St Edmunds, both in Parliament and in his constituency. He will then take questions on anything and everything that the audience wishes to quiz him on.

David Ruffley will meet local members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) on Wednesday, 14 September at the Manor House Museum in Bury to receive an update from them on the situation with regard to the loss of 12 turntable operatives at Bury Fire Station. David has kept in close touch with firefighters in his constituency since these jobs were first put under threat.

The charity match is being held at the Bury St Edmunds Golf Club.

gjhfgjhhRuffley still questions Government climb down on Council Tax

Bury St Edmunds MP, David Ruffley, will still be questioning the Government on its claim that it will postpone the Council Tax revaluation.

David Ruffley campaigned vigorously at the May general election for a total scrapping, not just a postponement, of the Council Tax revaluation.

The revaluation would have seen one million households pushed up two or more Council Tax bands in addition to moving six million up one band.
