David Ruffley

David Ruffley, MP for Bury St Edmunds, spoke in the House of Commons on the 10th of February about the proposed plan to give prisoners the right to vote.

Following the summit meeting held by David Ruffley of twelve leading Chief Executives of Suffolk voluntary organisations and Charities in the autumn at the Apex, he has been following up the meeting on what the Big Society means for Suffolk by asking questions in the House of Commons. This has resulted in Nicholas Hurd, David Cameron's Minister for the Big Society, accepting an invite from Mr Ruffley to meet with charities and local bodies as well as politicians to discuss how this national policy will be implemented in Suffolk.

David Ruffley MP to meet with Suffolk Police Federation about controversial police reform

On Friday 4th February 2011 David Ruffley MP will meet with Matt Gould, Chairman of the Joint Branch Board of the Suffolk Police Federation at their Stowmarket HQ.

On Tuesday 23rd November, Bury St Edmunds MP David Ruffley attended HRH Duke of Edinburgh's reception at the Banqueting House, Whitehall to celebrate the launch of the King James Bible Trust, a charity set up to mark the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible's publication in 1611.

On Friday 26th November, David Ruffley, MP for Bury St Edmunds, and other Suffolk MPs, will meet with Suffolk GPs to discuss the questions raised by Health Secretary Andrew Lansley's new White Paper on NHS Reform. The White Paper, Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS, has been described as the most radical shake up of the NHS since its creation in 1948.

David Ruffley MP will attend the second meeting of the Business Community and Suffolk MPs Liaison Group on Friday 26th November at 3pm in the BT Headquarters in Martlesham.

David said: 'Issues on the agenda include: the provision of broadband across rural Suffolk; the formation of a new Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) for Norfolk and Suffolk; tourism in Suffolk and the London Olympics 2012.

David Ruffley, MP for Bury St Edmunds, was elected overwhelmingly by his fellow Conservative MPs in the House of Commons to serve on the Treasury Select Committee. In the election David beat off competition from MPs from Wolverhampton, Esher, and Lincoln for membership of the Committee. David's election by MPs was confirmed in a House of Commons vote tonight.

David Ruffley MP officially opened the new £470,000 midwifery-led birthing unit at West Suffolk Hospital on 10 December. Designed to provide a 'home-from-home' environment for women who want a natural birth, the unit has four individual rooms with en-suite rooms, and one with a birthing pool.
