David Ruffley MP will be visiting South Lee School in Bury St Edmunds on Friday 25 November at 10.30am, accompanied by Governor, Mr David Barker.

Fresh data shows that 870 apprenticeships were delivered in Bury St Edmunds in the 2010/11 academic year, an increase of 16% on 2009/2010.

Local MP David Ruffley said 'This is better news for the businesses and young people in the Bury St Edmunds area. The rise in apprenticeship numbers, particularly in advanced 'A' level equivalent qualifications, shows the Government's commitment to helping employers train the skilled workers they need to build a stronger Suffolk economy.

David Ruffley said: 'I welcome the Autumn Statement's modest boost for Suffolk businesses.

West Suffolk Hospital was awarded NHS Foundation Trust status on Thursday 1 December 2011.

David Ruffley MP said: 'I wish to congratulate West Suffolk Hospital Trust ('WSHT') for being awarded Foundation Hospital Trust status.

David Ruffley MP will be discussing policing issues in Suffolk with Simon Ash, Suffolk Constabulary Chief Constable, County Councillor Joanna Spicer, Chairman of Suffolk Police Authority, and Dr Daniel Poulter, MP at Martlesham Heath Police HQ.

David Ruffley MP will be laying a wreath in honour of Britain's fallen heroes at the Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade on Sunday 13 November, commencing at the Athenaeum in Bury St Edmunds at 10.10am as well as attending the Festival of Remembrance at the Regal Theatre in Stowmarket on Saturday 12 November at 7.30pm.

David Ruffley MP will be attending a 'send off' of the harvester machine representing the UK sugar beet industry on its way to Lord Mayor of London's Show. This is at the Bury St Edmunds sugar factory on Friday 11 November at 12noon.

David Ruffley said:- 'I am delighted to be able to switch on the Christmas lights with Councillor Christopher Spicer, Mayor of St Edmundsbury, and Santa Claus this year in Bury St Edmunds.

I am very pleased to be switching the lights on for the first time in my fourteen year tenure as Member of Parliament for Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket. I am even more pleased that the ceremony is set to be the most exciting yet with market stalls, live music, fairground attractions and late night shopping .

David Ruffley MP will be visiting Gislingham Primary School on Friday 4th November 2011 at 11am to attend a Question and Answer session from its pupils about his role as the Member of Parliament for Bury St Edmunds. The visit takes place during Parliament Week, a new week-long initiative between 31st October and 6th November.
