David Ruffley MP will be attending the Beating Retreat ceremony and the launch of the Bury Festival on Friday 8 May at 6.30pm.

The 24th Bury St Edmunds Festival will open on Friday, May 8, with the traditional Beating Retreat ceremony on Angel Hill, which will be performed by the Band of the Royal Parachute Regiment.

David Ruffley MP has today released details of the response to his 'Honest Food' campaign and residents' survey.

Earlier this year David wrote to all the major supermarkets in Bury St Edmunds asking them to outline their policy on the clarity of food labelling, in particular the labelling of items as 'British' when the contents are not sourced from our country.

Some of the key results from David's survey, which has received nearly 120 responses, are as follows:

• 78% of people find it difficult establish the country of origin of a product

gjhfgjhhRuffley to give starters orders at Moreton Hall Christian Aid Fun Run

David Ruffley MP will be giving 'starters orders' at the Christian Aid Fun Run on the field next to Christ Church, Moreton Hall on Saturday 9 May between 11.30am and 1.30pm.

Participants are encouraged to get sponsored for as many laps as they think they can do, up to a maximum of 10, and in so doing raise money to help people in some of the world's poorest countries.

David Ruffley MP, the Shadow Minister for Police Reform, will be visiting the headquarters of Suffolk Constabulary on Friday 24 April.

David's briefing will include a meeting with Detective Chief Inspector Louisa Pepper to discuss Quest- a bureaucracy busting initiative to get more police back on the beat.

David Ruffley has been Shadow Minister for Police Reform since July 2007 when he was promoted from his previous position as Shadow Minister for Welfare Reform by the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition, David Cameron MP.

David Ruffley MP has called on local people to throw their support behind the RSPCA during next week's RSPCA Week.

The RSPCA is a registered charity which seeks to prevent cruelty, promoted kindness and alleviate suffering of animals. Its £82million annual running costs are funded exclusively by voluntary donations and legacies.

This year's RSPCA Week will run from 27 April to 3 May 2009.

David Ruffley MP will be officially unveiling Havebury Housing Partnership's Investors in People plaque on Friday 1 May at 3pm.

Havebury was formed in 2001 to take ownership of the housing stock of St. Edmundsbury Borough Council. When the Council held a ballot of tenants living in Council accommodation a majority of tenants (71.5%) expressed their individual choice and chose Havebury as their new landlord. This led to almost 6,000 homes being purchased by Havebury.

David Ruffley MP will be meeting with the West Suffolk branch of the Women's Institute (WI) on Friday 1 May to discuss the 'End Violence Against Women' campaign.

Up to three million women in the UK are affected by violence every year and the local WI is concerned about the postcode lottery affecting women who need to access support services following rape, domestic violence, forced marriage and other forms of violence.

David Ruffley MP has launched a new survey online at www.tellDavidRuffley.com on whether his constituents can receive a digital television signal.

The analogue signal is due to be switched off by 2012 and the switchover process will being in East Anglia in 2011. David is aware that some residents in his constituency are still unable to receive a free-to-air digital signal.

David Ruffley MP has today called on residents across Suffolk to do their bit to promote Parkinson's Awareness Week which runs from 20- 26 April 2009.

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition affecting movements such as walking, talking, and writing. It is named after Dr James Parkinson, the London doctor who first identified Parkinson's as a specific condition.

'This week is Parkinson's Awareness Week and it is important that all of us in Suffolk do our bit to raise awareness of the condition.

gjhfgjhhRuffley to visit Suffolk school Farm and Country Fair as guest of the President of Suffolk Agricultural Association

David Ruffley MP will be visiting the ninth School Farm and Country Fair as the guest of the President of Suffolk Agricultural Association, Michael Hollingsworth, on Thursday 23 April.

The main objective of the School Farm and Country Fair is to enable seven to nine year old Suffolk school pupils to connect with how their food is produced.
