David Ruffley MP opened the new 7A Respite Service Summerhouse in Stowmarket on 30th September 2011.

The Summerhouse is to form part of the respite service to accommodate adults with learning disabilities and associated conditions including autism, cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

The service was opened in 1995 and continues to provide short break respite to 35 families, encouraging users to develop new life skills.

The Summerhouse was completed with the aid of The Prince's Trust and Stowmarket Lions.

The Bury Society remains committed to ensuring that while the town continues to grow and prosper, it continues to be a beautiful place in which to live, work or visit.

David spoke to the society on the dinner's theme of 'Success in the Past and Future'.

David Ruffley MP will be unveiling a new sign in the centre of Bradfield Combust on Saturday 10 December at 11am.

David Ruffley said: 'I am very pleased to be unveiling the new sign to commemorate the history of the village.

The sign has been constructed by residents and staff of HMP Highpoint Prison Community and the artwork has been contributed by local school children. This is an excellent example of how communities can help offenders serving prison sentences to engage with society in a productive manner.

David Ruffley MP has welcomed announcements by British Telecom and the Secretary of State for Media, Culture, Sport and the Olympics, Jeremy Hunt on investment of broadband provision to homes and businesses in the Bury St Edmunds constituency.

David Ruffley said:

'BT announced on Tuesday that it would be developing twelve more exchange areas in Suffolk, one of which will directly benefit residents in Stowmarket. I am pleased to hear that BT expect the work to be completed by autumn next year.
